BUMA Goes Live with MineTrack Targeting High Efficiencies

To help gain higher production rates, increase efficiencies and safety of both the near 100 coal hauling truck mining fleet and the operating workforce, BUMA at their Sungai Danau site operations, has successfully achieved the project implementation Go-Live milestone on-time and on budget with the SNC Technologies best in class MineTrack GPS FMS (Mining Fleet Management System) along with the MineSafeDrive in-cab Operator Fatigue Management and in-Cab CCTV solutions for Coal Hauling.

The newest generation of low cost FMS GPS over VHF/UHF with options for WiFi, Satellite and GSM, the MineTrack FMS solution will assist BUMA site operations management with the movement of the mine site coal hauling trucks. Along with the MineSafeDrive real-time in-cab operator fatigue management and on-board CCTV systems, the MineTrack FMS system real-time GPS tracking, dispatch allocation and overall fleet optimization sends the truck GPS position, status, machine health, speed and payload data back to the site operations fleet management dispatch center where the data is monitored, interrogated and managed in real-time. MineTrack and MineSafeDrive enable the BUMA site operations and safety management teams will have the capabilities to improve the operator and mining fleet efficiencies on-the-fly and in real-time rather than current management methods of waiting for shift or yesterday’s reports to manage from.

MineTrack FMS monitors, manages and supports the transportation of the large number of mine haul fleet of trucks and excavators along with the supporting work force operating the fleet in REAL-TIME more efficiently and in a safer manner. Through every shift change, break and delay by tracking and monitoring the truck fleet position, speed, ETA, delay time, out of bounds and a number of other safety and operational features, and while at the same time managing and issuing operator shift change position options, MineTrack ensures the truck and excavator fleet are being utilized to the maximum potential and that personnel are being transported efficiently on time and in a safer environment throughout the mining operation.

When managing a large mine haul fleet, it is critical to monitor machine KPI’s, loads, cycle times, rotations, payload, delays, down and up times, speeding and fuel usage in-real-time to help manage and gain efficiencies across the fleet. MineTrack FMS and MineSafeDrive will continuously improve truck cycle timing, personnel movement and ensure the correct haul truck is utilized to travel from the correct ROM/Stockpile and haul the raw material to the correct port stockpile the first time, on time and in a safe manner.

These are just a few of the big challenges mining contractors like BUMA deal with on a daily basis, and many more are turning to SNC Technologies real-time GPS mining fleet management solutions whether it be a requirement for in-pit, long haul, auxiliary or marine based requirement to address the operational challenges while at the same time increasing efficiencies, reducing fuel and personnel costs, enhancing productivity, boosting profitability on their sites while at the same time increasing safety.

MineTrack is a feature rich mining fleet management solution for coal hauling operations with a real-time dispatch interface and user friendly KPI dashboard along with a range of standard management reports.

MineTrack can dramatically increase fleet optimization and productivity, regardless of your business requirements. MineTrack provides robust, redundant, and rugged GPS tracking solutions in any harsh environment.

With MineTrack you get more than just a GPS location. We offer options that allow you to monitor the equipment status, events, conditions, driver/operator behavior, fatigue monitoring, fuel levels, unauthorized stops, load status and counts, cycle times, out of bounds situations, and much more in real-time.

Established in 1998, BUMA provides services to Indonesian coal producers across all production stages, including geology and planning, overburden removal, coal mining, coal hauling and reclamation and rehabilitation.

Established in 1998, and acquired by Delta Dunia in 2009, BUMA is the second largest coal mining services provider in Indonesia. With close to 20% market share, BUMA currently provides service to 6 coal customers on 8 different project sites. Some of the largest coal producers in Indonesia, such as Berau Coal, Adaro, and Kideco, are among BUMA’s customers, with whom BUMA has enjoyed entrenched partnerships over the span of 12-18 years. BUMA also established new partnership in recent years with Geo Energy, an SGX-listed company, who is the holding company of two (2) of BUMA’s customers. Together, these four counterparts comprise over 95% of BUMA’s production volume, with whom BUMA has long-term, if not life-of-mine, contracts.

In 2016, BUMA recorded 299.8 million bcm of overburden removal and 35.1 million tonnes of coal, resulting in US$611 million of revenues, US$217 million of EBITDA, and 37.1% of EBITDA margin.
