In Balikpapan, the story of Suhardi—better known as Amo—shows how determination and opportunity can change a life. His journey from a young newspaper boy to an IT professional at PT Satnetcom is a powerful example of how education and support can transform the future.
A Life-Changing Encounter
Born on March 13, 2002, in Balikpapan, Amo grew up in a modest family in Sungai Nangka, South Balikpapan. At just eight years old, he sold newspapers and was begging for money at the Beruang Madu traffic light in Balikpapan. Ken, the President Director, had seen him several times and gave him some money but also got his mother’s handphone number. After investigating his family situation, SatNetCom “adopted” him and supported his education and gave his family food support, to replace the money that Amo was getting on the streets. That was 15 years ago and it was a turning point n Amo’s life.
Educational Journey
With the help of PT Satnetcom’s CSR program, Amo was able to pursue his education:
- SD Negeri 11 South Balikpapan (Elementary School)
- SMP Negeri 10 Balikpapan (Junior High School)
- SMK Kartika V-1 Balikpapan (Vocational High School), majoring in Computer & Network Engineering (TKJ)
During his time at vocational school, Amo developed a passion for computer networking and IT infrastructure, which later shaped his career path.
From Internship to Full-Time Employee
Amo began his career with PT Satnetcom through an internship program from June to August 2024. His dedication and eagerness to learn led to his official hiring as a full-time employee in September 2024 in the Technical Services Department.
A Role Model for the Future
Today, Amo is known for his hardworking spirit, determination, and curiosity. His transformation from a boy selling newspapers to an IT professional is proof of how PT Satnetcom’s CSR initiatives not only provide scholarships but also empower young people to build a brighter future.
