MineTrack UHF-VHF is a specialised fleet management system designed for long-haul mining transport operations, helping mining companies improve productivity, safety, and operational efficiency—especially in remote and challenging environments. Built for sites with limited or no line of sight, such as mountainous or heavily forested areas, MineTrack UHF-VHF provides reliable GPS tracking using UHF or VHF radio frequency technology.
Unlike GSM- or satellite-based systems that rely on public networks or incur high monthly costs, MineTrack UHF-VHF uses dedicated radio frequencies and TDMA technology to deliver faster data transmission, near real-time updates, and stable performance in remote mining locations.
Designed for Remote and Challenging Mining Environments
MineTrack UHF-VHF is ideal for mining areas where cellular coverage is unreliable or unavailable. By using UHF or VHF frequency bands for telemetry and mobile radio communication, the system ensures long-range coverage and strong signal penetration through terrain obstacles such as hills, trees, and infrastructure.
Vehicle and asset positions are determined via GPS satellites and transmitted through UHF or VHF radio networks. Data can be accessed through a web browser via an internet connection or through a dedicated client application. The system can also send proactive alerts and notifications via SMS or email based on predefined conditions.
Proven Technology with Continuous Development
MineTrack VHF-UHF was first developed in 2013 and initially implemented at Leighton MGM under the name GlobalTrack VHF-UHF. As operational needs evolved, the system underwent continuous development and was rebranded as MineTrack VHF-UHF, incorporating enhanced features, improved performance, and greater flexibility for mining operations.

Technology and Frequency Overview
MineTrack UHF-VHF operates using regulated frequency bands in Indonesia:
- VHF (Very High Frequency): 144–148 MHz
- UHF (Ultra High Frequency): 430–438 MHz
These frequencies offer long-distance communication and strong penetration through environmental obstacles. Customers may apply for either UHF or VHF licences depending on site conditions and frequency availability, although VHF is generally recommended due to its wider coverage and higher penetration capability.

GPS Tracking Technology Comparison
Compared to other tracking technologies:
- Satellite GPS offers wide coverage but involves high equipment and monthly costs.
- GSM/GPRS GPS has lower initial costs but depends heavily on cellular network availability, making it unreliable for remote mining areas.
- UHF/VHF GPS Tracking, as used by MineTrack, provides long-range coverage, no monthly fees, and lower overall investment costs, making it well-suited for mining operations in remote locations.
Selecting the right tracking technology depends on detailed operational and site-specific requirements, which MineTrack addresses through flexible system design.
