Mining opportunities for small local businesses in Indonesia are expected to grow with the upcoming finalization of the new mining regulation (PP Tambang). Minister Maman Abdurrahman announced that the regulation will allow qualified businesses located near mining areas to obtain permits to manage mining concessions. The policy is being finalized in coordination with several ministries and is expected to be signed by President Prabowo within the year.
To be eligible, businesses must operate close to the proposed mining site and must not be receiving microcredit loans designed for very small enterprises. This initiative aims to boost local economies by opening up legal access to mining for small businesses across the country.
