SUN Energy is advancing the Green Mining Indonesia movement by positioning itself as a crucial partner in the national push toward sustainable, low-carbon mining. Through solar power plants (PLTS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and collaboration across the SUN Group ecosystem, the company is helping mining operators shift toward cleaner and more efficient energy use. CEO Jefferson Kuesar shared that SUN Energy has already deployed renewable-energy solutions at over 15 mining sites nationwide, including Indonesia’s first integrated solar-plus-containerized-BESS installation with PT Cipta Kridatama and a Solar PV Roll-Up system at PT Berau Coal. He emphasized that green mining is not merely transitioning energy sources but building a long-term foundation for resilient, low-emission operations.
Many mining regions in Indonesia remain off-grid and still depend heavily on diesel generators, driving fuel consumption that can account for up to half of total operational expenses. To overcome this challenge, SUN Energy offers integrated PLTS–BESS systems engineered specifically for remote mining environments. These solutions provide stable round-the-clock power while drastically cutting fuel use and transportation costs. By enabling solar power generated during the day to be stored and used at night, SUN Energy supports a more reliable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible mining ecosystem—further propelling the Green Mining Indonesia initiative.
